On Monday, January 14th, 2019, Charles John Gervase, “Charlie”, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many, passed away at the age of 82 from complications of Renal Disease, surrounded by his family, at his home in Cornelius, North Carolina.
Charlie was born May 28th, 1936 in Buffalo, New York, to Joseph F. and Sarah (DiBella) Gervase. He graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in 1954, where he was Senior Class President. He went on to graduate from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business. While attending college and beyond, Charlie served in the United States Army Reserves for 8 years, with the rank of Captain, ultimately being Honorably Discharged in 1968.
Throughout his professional career, he held positions in management and purchasing and was a Vice President of Marrano Enterprises, a well-known home builder in Buffalo. He proudly served the industry as an active member and Director of the Niagara Frontier Builders Association during his residency in Western New York. He later relocated to South Florida where he obtained both his General Contractor and Real Estate Licenses, and remained active and involved in many aspects of the Building Industry. He later retired to North Carolina with his wife, where they currently were residing.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Shirley (Santasiero), sons Charles R. (Barbara), Gregory S. (Darcy), and daughter Jacqueline Murray. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and brother Joseph F. Jr. (Rosalind). He is preceded in death by brother Frank and sister Josephine Sacco.
Because he loved and cherished his family and enjoyed celebrating all of their accomplishments with them, A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, January 20th, 2019 at the Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, located at 16901 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, North Carolina. The visitation, service and reception will begin at 1pm.
