Charles William Conard

Charles William Conard, age 83, of Cornelius passed away March 9^th, 2022, in his home of 54 years surrounded by family.

Charles “Charlie” Conard was born July 2nd,1938 in Thomasville NC to the late William Crawford Conard and Caroline Summey Conard and resided in Cornelius since the age of 3.  He was a graduate of North Mecklenburg High School.  Charlie served in the U.S. Navy for 7 years. He later coached Pop Warner Football for 9 years with Banks Williams.  He retired from Blythe Construction in July 2000 after 33 years.  Charlie had a passion for fishing, some of his favorite spots were Morehead City, Santee Cooper River, Lake Norman and any good local fishing area!  Charlie enjoyed taking both of his sons fishing with him and taught them all of his tricks! Charlie, also known as “Papa”, loved his grandchildren and great-grandchild and enjoyed spending time with them.  He loved attending all of their extra curricular activities and was their #1 fan and was so very proud of each of them.  

Charlie was preceded in death by his brothers James E. Conard, Richard Conard, and Harold Conard, his sisters Inez Britt and Imogene Ervin, and many nieces and nephews. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Frances “Fran” Walker Conard, of Cornelius; his sons Jeffrey Conard and wife Tracey of Fort Mill SC, Roger Conard and significant other Nicole of Lenoir NC; his four grandchildren, Lauren Conard, Scott Conard, Raegan Conard, and Rylee Conard, and his great- grandson, Mason Conard. 

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022, 12:00PM, at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, with military honors. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:30AM - 12:00PM. Interment will follow the services at the Columbarium at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery.
