Mrs. Carrie Alcovia Faires Parker, 87, of Charlotte, NC died Saturday September 24, 2011 at CMC University. Born February 1, 1924 in Balsam Grove, NC she was a daughter of the late Fidela Van McCall and Mary Iduma Owen McCall. She was a true believer of God and dear member of Hunter Acres Baptist Church. Carrie was an inspiration and the bond that kept the family together. She loved spending time with family and friends and as an excellent cook she enjoyed preparing meals for everybody. She loved flowers and all things that bloomed. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept 28 at Hunter Acres Baptist Church, 4520 Herman Road, Charlotte, NC 28269 with Rev. Donald Newell officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Mooresville. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hunter Acres Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Jay A. Parker; son, Joe Van Faires of Hickory Grove, SC; daughter, Janie Faires Stephens and husband Charles Michael Stephens of Mooresville; step-son, Jerry Parker of Boone; grandchildren, Jimmy Nick Faires and fiancée Theresa Ward of Statesville, Freddie Neal Faires of Hickory Grove, SC; sister, Evon Childers of Cornelius; brother, Evans McCall and wife Betty of Supply NC; sister-in-laws, Mary Jane McCall, Louise Dwyer, Margie Faires, Helen Faires, Marcel Moore, Margie Morrison and husband Donald, Lucile McFee and husband Joey, Phyllis Henry and husband Chris and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Talitha Jordan, Lula Stilwell, Dicey McCall and brother, Ishmel McCall.
