Mrs. Carolyn Lena Smith Batchelder, 73, of Huntersville, NC died Thursday April 24, 2014 at Levine-Dickson Hospice House. Born January 10, 1941 in Neptune, New Jersey she was a daughter of the late James S. Smith and Margaret Monroe Smith. Following her retirement as Town Clerk for the Town of Holden Maine she was a "Nanny and Preschool Teacher" for her grandchildren. A member of Christ Community Church, she was very involved in numerous church activities. She was a very creative individual, artist, poet and "Social Butterfly" who never met a stranger. Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday April 28, 2014 at Christ Community Church, Huntersville, NC with Rev. Jack Homesley officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. A loving Mother, Grandmother, Great grandmother and sister, she leaves to cherish her memory her children; James Irvin Batchelder and wife Sally of Bangor, Maine, Janis Leonard and husband John of Lagrange, Maine and Jennifer Lawrimore and husband Ronald of Huntersville, NC, "son" William Harris, wife Connie and family of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Shawn Irvin Batchelder and wife Christine, Shayna Lynn Leonard, Adrienne Batchelder, James Irvin Batchelder, Jr and wife Kendra, Alexander Batchelder, Trevor Lawrimore and Grayson Lawrimore; great grandchildren, Madeline Mitchell, Bradlee Thomas, Iralynn Batchelder, Irvin Batchelder and great grandson to be next month, Calvin Batchelder; sister, Margaret "Peggy" Cybrowski and husband Walter of Warrenton, VA; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Rideout and husband Glenn of Lincoln Maine and Muriel Curtis of Waterville, Maine; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Batchelder and wife Linda of Lincoln, Maine and Jerry Batchelder and wife Lois of Groton, Conn; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews and many special friends In addition to her parents, James and Margaret Smith she was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin W. Batchelder, Jr November 4, 1983 and her brother-n-law, Norman Batchelder.
