Camille Bass Smith

Camille Bass Smith, 69, of Charlotte, NC passed away October 30, 2015. Camille was born on September 16, 1946 in Conway, SC to her parents John Henry Bass and Nina Proctor Bass. She attended East Carolina University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she graduated with a degree in Journalism. After graduating, she moved to New York, NY and worked at the publishing company Doubleday. Camille later moved to California and worked as a Script Editor for Universal Studios in Universal City, CA. After moving to Charlotte, NC, she worked for First Union and later as a Docent at Historic Rosedale Plantation. Camille had a passion for travel, and especially enjoyed her travels to England. She enjoyed reading, learning, and teaching about history. She loved hiking and enjoying the outdoors. Camille is survived by her son, Kevin Smith and his wife Leisha Smith and grandchildren McKenna Smith and Beckham Smith, of Huntersville, NC; her brother, Jon Bass, of Charlotte, NC; her niece, Elizabeth Joyce, of Fredericksburg, VA; her nephews Jon Bass, Jr., of New Providence, NJ, and Mark Bass of Waxhaw, NC, and many beloved extended family members. A memorial will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Camille's life.
