Burnice Herring

December 15, 1930 — November 3, 2013

Mr. Burnice Alderman Herring, 82, dearly beloved husband of Georgia Lee Herring, loving father of seven children, Cheryl White of Huntersville, NC, Vikki Pier of Bostic, NC, Christi Martin of Denver, NC, Danna Larsen of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Ronna MacBeth of Ashburn, VA, Tara Elder of Gulfport, MS and Sean Herring of St. Louis MO, adored grandfather of 25 and great-grandfather of 17 died on November 3, 2013 at his home in Huntersville, NC. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce Stewart of Charlotte, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leon Herring and his grandsons, Timothy Macbeth and LCpl Noah Pier. Burnice was born December 15, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from Balboa Panama Canal Zone High School and served two years in the Marines. After his discharge, he graduated with an Electronic Engineering degree and was then employed by the CIA in Langley, VA for 31 years. He retired with two Intelligence Medals of Merit. As well as being a fun and loving father, he was best friend and mentor to his children and grandchildren. His generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to his family. Burnice lived his life with honor, integrity and bravery. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service 1:30 p.m. Friday November 8, 2013 at Grace Covenant Church, 17301 Statesville, Cornelius, NC with a graveside service following at Hillcrest Cemetery, 1508 Charles Raper Jonas Hwy, Mt. Holly, NC. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home. Memorial contributions in Burnice's memory are preferred to Hospice, 1420 E 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204 or Susan G. Komen, 2316 Randolph Road, Charlotte, NC 28204.
