Brenda Joeann Roper

Brenda Joeann Roper, 65 of Cornelius, NC stepped over into Glory on March 23, 2016. Brenda was born on June 2, 1950 in Orange, Texas, to the late Anita Delores Wadsworth and Jim Prentice. Brenda is survived by her loving daughter, Valerie Lapinid; son-in-law, Narciso Lapinid; and three granddaughters, Zoe, Sage and Jovie.

Brenda worked as a data entry clerk at Inland Steel, in Gary, IN for 15 years. She also earned an Associate of Music degree from Indiana University Northwest in 2000. Brenda loved God and was a devoted Christian and prayer warrior. She was always active in her church, especially singing in and directing choirs. She also dedicated her time to her church’s food pantry, Operation Care. Being an avid reader, Brenda loved to learn new things, such as cross stitch and jewelry making. She was a wonderful cook, enthusiastic gardener, animal lover and loving mother and grandmother.  In later years, Brenda devoted herself to teaching her grandchildren all she knew and sharing with family and friends about the great promises of God.

Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, 16901 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC 28078. Family will receive friends at 2:00 pm until the time of service. Brenda will be laid to rest following the service at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Community Cemetery, 19600 Zion Ave., Cornelius, NC 28031.
