Betty "Polly" Godfrey Whitley

Betty “Polly” Godfrey Whitley, 94, of Huntersville, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021.

She was born in Charlotte on September 14, 1927, the daughter of the late Charles Durward Godfrey and Bertha Pangle Godfrey.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Charles Wayne Whitley; and sisters, Aline Wood, Bobbie Fussell, and Nancy Hamby.

Polly was a longtime member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. She loved to entertain, play bridge, socialize with friends and spend time with her family.  Polly was a member of the Peninsula Club, the Red Hat Society, the Eastern Star and numerous bridge clubs. 

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Bobby Hilker; sister, Edith Caldwell; grandchildren, Amy Poston and husband Jake, Jessie Anklin, Anna Anklin; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made to a favorite charity of your choice.

All services will be held privately by the family.
