Betty P. Gluyas

Betty Puckett Gluyas, 90, died July 24, 2021 in Huntersville, NC. She was the daughter of Robert W. and Ila C. Puckett of Charlotte.

Betty attended Harding High and after raising three children, completed degrees at Columbia and Winthrop Colleges.

She retired from Charlotte Mecklenburg schools.

Betty was a lifelong reader and gardener, loved her bridge club long life friends and loved her Oak Island beach house.

She was predeceased by husbands, James M. Brown, Jr., John O. Gluyas, Jr.; and brother, Robert M. Puckett of Greensboro.

Survivors include sons, James M. Brown, III of Columbia, SC, Robert W. Brown (Karen) of Concord, NC; daughter, Anne B. Ledford (Chuck) of Columbia; grandchildren, Leslie Langley (Billy), Todd Ledford (Ashleigh) of Columbia area, Casey M. Brown and Justin W. Brown of Concord, NC; and great grandchildren, Colton, Madeline, Maddox and Conner Ledford.

Special thanks to Latonya, Sharon and Portia who gave Mother care her final year.

There will be a private family burial at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church
