Betty Ann Pratt Brumley, 82, of Charlotte, NC passed away on December 12, 2018. Born in Hickory, NC on October 21, 1936, to the late Leola McClintock Pratt and Clarence Chalk Pratt. Betty was predeceased by her husband – Thomas Moore Brumley, Jr; brother – Clarence Sims Pratt; daughter – Janice Carol Brumley White; and one grandchild – Elizabeth Blake White.
She is survived by her son - Thomas Scott Brumley (wife - Geralyn Nogay Brumley), six grandchildren - Jessica Lyn Brumley Pahl (Jonathan Pahl) of Washington DC; Thomas Moore “Trey” Brumley III (Tiffany Clark Brumley) of Cary NC; Dr. Benjamin Pratt Brumley (Dr. Lauren Danzi Brumley) of Philadelphia PA; Dillon Thomas Brumley of Concord NC; Curtis William Brumley of Biloxi MS; and Taylor Scott Brumley of Seattle WA, four great-grandchildren - Rebecca Claire Pahl, Caroline Louise Pahl, Henry Clark Brumley, and Savannah Lynn Brumley.
Betty attended Long Creek School and graduated North Mecklenburg High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Tommy Brumley, and they celebrated 51 years of marriage together before his passing in 2007.
Upon graduation, she worked as a legal secretary in Charlotte. When her husband started his own business, Packaging Material & Equipment Co., she worked alongside him. Betty loved sewing and crafts of all kinds, especially card making. When her mother had advanced in age, she was her primary caregiver. Upon her mother’s passing, she assumed the guardianship of her special-needs brother, Sims.
As a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Betty was active in the church Methodist Women and Circle.
Betty was always kind to others and was the consummate Southern lady.
The service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 am on December 22, 2018, at Trinity United Methodist Church 6230 Beatties-Ford Rd, Charlotte, NC 28216 with the Revered Wade Ogle officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in Trinity’s Family Life Center. Lunch will be served. Interment will be private.
