Dr. Barry Alan Bowe, 54 of Huntersville, North Carolina, formerly of Charleston, West Virginia, died Monday, January 23, 2012 at home. Barry was the Principal at Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he shared his passion for teaching and his commitment to educational excellence. Barry's career goal was to assist others to achieve their full potential through education. Barry started his career in Kanawha County Schools in West Virginia where he served for 22 years before moving to the Bald Knob School District in State College, Pennsylvania. In 2007, Barry joined Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools in Charlotte North Carolina.. Barry maintained his membership at St. John's Episcopal Church in Charleston where he joined his church family in vestry service, choir and mission work. Preceding him in death was his father Harry Bowe of Charleston. Surviving are his mother, Phyllis Thornton Bowe, brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Kay Bowe and niece, Carrie Bowe all of Charleston. A service to honor the life of Barry will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2012 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Charleston with the Reverend Ann Lovejoy- Johnson officiating. A reception for the family will immediately follow the services.
