Barbara Nance Thornburg

Barbara Nance Thornburg, 83, of Statesville, NC formerly of Davidson, NC died Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born June 11, 1931 in Mecklenburg County she was a daughter of the late Fred Ranson Nantz and Effie Eugenia Rodgers Nantz. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, employed for many years at Reeves Brothers and was a CNA at the Huntersville Oaks. Funeral Services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Thursday September 4, 2014 in the Chapel of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, James Ronald Thornburg and wife Nancy of Lewisville, NC; daughter, Lisa Ann Thornburg of Winston-Salem, NC; sisters, Aileen Vanderford and husband, Bill of Huntersville, NC and Linda Nance of Cornelius, NC, nephews, Robert Vanderford and wife Stephanie and their daughter, Greta of Charlotte and Tim Vanderford and wife Liz of Los Angeles, CA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Withers Thornburg. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the loving care given to Mrs. Thornburg during her seven years as a resident at The Gardens of Statesville.
