Barbara Jean Furr

May 12, 1940 — October 7, 2017

Jean Watson Furr was born in Taylorsville North Carolina on May 12, 1940 to the late Frank Watson and Mildred Starnes Watson.  She died October 7, 2017.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Furr, her son Dennis Furr, her sister Evelyn Watson Hines, her twin sister Jeanette Watson Palmer and her brother Frank Watson, Jr.

She is survived by her son Mark Furr and his wife Susie and their son Logan as well as her sister Martha Pinnix and brother Daniel Watson.

When Jean graduated she moved to Charlotte through encouragement from her twin sister, Jeanette.  There she met her husband, Michael and moved to Huntersville where they raised their two boys, Dennis and Mark.  She was a stay at home mom until she went to work for Eckerd’s Drug Store.  She had a love for fishing.  Upon retiring they moved to Holden Beach where she enjoyed walking out on the pier anytime and catching fish.  She liked teaching everyone the joy of fishing.  She was blessed to make many friends there who cared for her deeply.  She felt blessed to help and give back to her community.

Her family would like to thank her caregivers; Debi Hogan, Jordanna Jones, Carol Coffman, and Marion Bracey, who made it possible for her to remain in her home on the waterway so she could continue her pastime of watching the boats and fisherman.

A visitation will be held at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville from 1-2 PM  on Tuesday October 10, 2017.  Funeral services will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 2 PM with interment to follow at Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 10500 Beatties Ford Rd, Huntersville. Memorial Donations may be made to St, Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
