Anne Potts McElroy, 99 years, 10 months and 2 days of Huntersville, N. C. died on December 6, 2011. Born February 4, 1912 in Mecklenburg County she was a daughter of the late Van Buren Potts and Hazeline Patterson Potts. She was the oldest member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church and awarded a Lifetime Membership in the Women of the Church. She was a member of the Ona Patterson circle and the Wayland Sunday School Class. A graduate of Huntersville High School class of 1930 she attended Appalachian State Teachers College. She was secretary at Long Creek School until her retirement. Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2011 at Hopewell Presbyterian Church with Rev. Allan Purtill and the Rev. Ed. Wayland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center immediately following the service. Survivors are her children; daughters, Anne (Ronnie) Griffin of Huntersville, Jane (Don) Lee of Charlotte; son, William "Bill' (Marsha) McElroy, Jr. of Huntersville; 9grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and her pet turtle, Buddy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Van Buren and Hazeline Potts, her husband, W. V. McElroy, 2 great-grandchildren and her two sisters, Margaret Parks and Hazeline Conn.
