Andrew Ole Heggen, Jr., aged 72, passed away on February 16, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Born on July 11, 1952, in Troy, New York, Andrew was a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather who left an indelible mark on all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Educated at Averill Park High School and furthering his craft at Watervliet Arsenal, Andrew became a skilled machinist. His commitment to his work was matched by his tireless nature and reliability, earning him the affectionate nickname "Steady Eddy" from his beloved wife, Deborah Weiss Heggen, with whom he shared 41 wonderful years.
Andrew proudly served in the United States Air Force, showcasing the discipline and honor that would characterize his approach to life. His passion for hard work was complemented by a genuine enjoyment of life’s simpler pleasures. He cherished the companionship of his dogs, Hank and Chloe, and his cat, Lucy. Additionally, he found joy in playing golf and embracing travel adventures, particularly with his family in their camping trailer. Sacandaga Lake was a beloved retreat where he created cherished memories with loved ones.
A passionate sports enthusiast, Andrew had a special fondness for NC State College basketball, the New York Yankees, and the Carolina Panthers.
Andrew is survived by his wife, Deborah; his sons, Nathan (Lerissa) Heggen and Ian (Britt Symton) Heggen; his sister, Maria (Larry) Bulson; and his four grandchildren, Eric, Cecilia, Maria, and Gabriella. He is predeceased by his father, Andrew Ole Heggen, Sr.; his mother, Lynetta Mae Uline Heggen; and his brother, John Heggen.
Andrew Ole Heggen, Jr.'s legacy of hard work, dependability, and love will continue to inspire and uplift his family and friends for years to come. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
