Andrew D. Chittenden (Andy) died Friday March 6, 2015 in the Health Care Unit at The Pines at Davidson, NC. Born May 12, 1928 in Burlington, Vermont to Margaret Nixon and Harley Chittenden, his early years were spent in Vermont. Following his graduation from University of Vermont he moved to Buffalo, New York where he met and married Mary Lou Frazier in 1952. Andy's career as an accountant took him from New York to Washington, DC where he spent 25 years working for the National Science Foundation. Andy's interest and commitment to community service continued many years as an Elder in the Presbyterian Church, a volunteer homebuilder for low-income housing and a counselor with Colson Prison Ministry. Father of six children, he made time to support their many interests and activities. After retiring Andy and his wife Lou moved to New Bern, NC in 1991 where he became an active volunteer with S.C.O.R.E., a mentoring program for emerging businesses. In 2001 they moved to Davidson and later to The Pines at Davidson Retirement Community. Andy is survived by his wife Lou and five daughters; Karen, Laurie, Nancy, Susan, Janet; and eleven grandchildren. Along with his parents,he was preceded in death by his son Tom.
