Alvin Dwight Nantz, 69, a beloved husband, father, and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025, in Mooresville, North Carolina. He was born on June 27, 1955, in Iredell County, NC, to William David Nantz and Lois Rachel Gibson Nantz who have preceded him in death. In addition to his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by his sisters Betty Shoemaker and Dottie Hayes; brother-in-laws, Danny Ziegler and Randy Shoemaker; sister-in-law, Donna Ziegler; and his mother and father-in-law, Verla and John Ziegler.
Alvin was deeply devoted to his family, leaving behind his wife of 48 years, Donna Ziegler Nantz, and their loving daughter, Rachel Nantz. He is also survived by his brothers, Kenneth Nantz and Norman Nantz (Kathy), and sister Gail Stewart (Bobby), as well as his brother-in-law John Ziegler. Alvin's warm spirit touched the lives of many, including numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
Throughout his life, Alvin exemplified kindness and generosity, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He was a man of faith, dedicated to spreading the word of God and leading others toward Christ. Alvin's love for music was evident in his passion for playing the guitar; he performed in a Christian bluegrass band alongside his nephews, sharing joy through music. Growing up on Lake Norman fostered his love for the outdoors, and he cherished time spent in the mountains and at the beach with his family.
Alvin's strong character was shaped by the exemplary values instilled by his parents. His life was a testament to love, faith, and unwavering friendship. He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Raymer - Kepner in Huntersville, NC, followed by a graveside service, officiated by Rev. Sheldon Davis, at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery in Cornelius, NC, starting at 11:30 AM.
Memorial donations in Alvin's name may be made to Mt. Mourne Church of God, 1453 NC-115, Mooresville, NC 28115.
Alvin leaves a legacy of love, compassion, and music that will resonate within the hearts of all who knew him.
