Alma Warwick Wilson

Alma "Helen" Warwick Wilson Helen was born March 29, 1928 in Gaston County, NC. Her family moved several times before settling in the Nevin Community of Charlotte. She graduated from Derita High School in 1947 and continued her education at Kings Business College. She met the love of her life while working at the office of Biltmore Dairy Farms. Married in 1949, she and Bain began their family at his home in Mallard Creek. Helen became active at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church where she was active in many ministries. Children were particularly close to her heart. She was a Sunday school teacher, 4-H leader, supporter of children's homes, preschool teacher, and active in scouts. She was a member of the Frazier-Robinson Sunday School class, Older Adult ministries, and the Presbyterian Women. The Presbyterian Women presented Helen with an Honorary Lifetime Membership. As her youngest child started school, Helen began working outside the home at Baucom's Transfer and Storage and retired from Paxton Van Lines. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Bain Wilson and a daughter, Charlotte Marie Wilson; her parents, George F. Warwick, Sr. and Evelyn Reagan Warwick; and brother, John E. Warwick Sr. She was a loving mother to Deborah Clark, wife of R. Gregory of Plano, TX; Wayne Wilson, whose wife is Deborah of Midland, NC; Audrey Brady of Charlotte, NC; and Jim Wilson and wife Sherry of Midland, NC. She was especially proud of her grandchildren, Carrie Brady of Charlotte, NC; Danielle Clark of Plano, TX; Bain Wilson of Champagne, IL; Travis Clark of Plano, TX; Chris Brady of Charlotte, NC; Victoria Harris and husband Dale of Charleston, SC; Ben Wilson of Midland, NC; and James M. Wilson Jr. of Midland, NC. Her sister, Betty W. Britt and husband Dan live in Mims, FL. Helen's brother, George Warwick, Jr. lives in Stanley, NC. The family would like to thank Lovella Aery for her love and care; Nancy Holland for her friendship; and the entire staff of The Pines at Davidson for daily care and love. Alma Helen Wilson will be long remembered as the greatest mother and "Nana" who never met a stranger. A service to celebrate her life will be Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 11:00am at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church with Rev. Shawn Barkley and Rev. Kenneth Craig officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church, 1600 Mallard Creek Ch. Rd West, Charlotte, NC 28262.
