Alice Kopp

September 11, 1926 — May 18, 2012

Alice Dugan Kopp, age 85 of Davidson, North Carolina passed away on 5/18/2012 from Parkinson's Disease. She was born 9/11/1926 in Elizabeth, NJ. Mrs. Kopp moved to North Carolina in 1965 where she lived in Raleigh, Cary, Pinehurst, and most recently, Davidson. She is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Mary Dugan; her sister, Rita Dugan DiTore (Patrick); and her husband of 55 years, Vincent Clifford Kopp. She is survived by her brother, Joseph Dugan (Miriam) of Lookout Mountain, TN; four children, Virginia Kopp Hall (Robert) of Seneca SC, Dr. Vincent Joseph Kopp (Katherine) of Chapel Hill NC, Alice Kopp Loeffler (Joseph) of Cary NC, and Eileen Kopp Robinson (Michael) of Cornelius NC; and by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Alice was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed the company of friends with whom she could share the wry comment, a quiet laugh, and a good Braves or Red Sox game. The luck of the Irish was always with her when she won at Bingo or bet on the Super Bowl. The memory of her dog, Willie, was kept alive by her collection of dachshund memorabilia. Alice was a quiet pillar of strength and always led by example. She was admired for her hard work and dedication to family. She passed on to her children respect for others, commitment to fairness, patience and acceptance in adversity, and devotion to God. Alice was always opening new doorways and discovering new talents. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. She especially enjoyed sewing dolls for children admitted to the hospital while living in Pinehurst. She had a deep appreciation for art, especially watercolors and acrylic painting, which she took up later in life. Alice gave from her heart volunteering at her church, at local hospitals, and within her neighborhood community. Most of all Alice was a loving person. Her legacy is that she showed all of her children how a parent's love is unconditional. The Family wishes to thank the Staff of the Schramm Health Center of the Pines at Davidson for the loving care given to our mother in her final years, months, and days; and to Dr. Ronnie Beamon, her primary physician and Dr. Peterson Giallanza, her neurologist. A final thank you is also extended to the Charlotte Region Hospice & Palliative Care team for helping both mom and her family through her final journey. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. May 25, 2012 at Sacred Heart Church, 300 Dundee Road, Pinehurst NC. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. preceding the service at the church. Interment will be immediately following the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Southern Pines, NC beside her late husband, Vince. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation (www.pdf.org), the Michael J.
