Albert K. Karam, 77, peacefully passed away April 26,2016 surrounded by family at his side at Levine Dickson Hospice House.
He was born Oct.19,1938 in Paterson, NJ to Albert and Barbara Karam. He attended high school in New Bern, NC and joined the U.S. Navy in 1955 where he served as an electrical technician working on jet planes until 1959. He attended NC State University and was a life long Wolfpack fan.
Albert worked in the tire retreading industry for various companies and eventually opened East Coast Tire in which he operated for 12 years. He had great memories of his travels to China, Russia, Kazakhstan, England, and Hong Kong where he offered his expertise in starting and running retread plants. He was very knowledgeable and loved serving as a consultant in this industry.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, following Nascar, watching westerns, cooking Lebanese food and making people laugh with his great sense of humor.
Survivors include son Alan ( Shelly) Karam of Fredricksburg, Va and Matthew Karam of Gastonia, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Mitchell Karam, Nellie Hatem, Madeline Hatem, Isabelle Caprio, Laurice Tillotson, Raymond Karam ,Tommy Karam and Eddie Karam Sr.
A memorial service to celebrate Albert’s life will be held May 14,2016 at 2:00 pm at St. Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville, NC with a gathering of friends and family following at the home of Greg and Terri Karam, Huntersville, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Albert’s memory can be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital or The ( Jimmy) V Foundation.
